<\/span>The <\/span>decrease<\/span> in i<\/span>nvestor <\/span>c<\/span>onfidence <\/span>was<\/span> led by <\/span>North American ICI<\/span>, which <\/span>dropped<\/span> 5.3<\/span> points to <\/span>1<\/span>08.7<\/span>. <\/span>

Asian ICI was up a more modest <\/span>4.8<\/span> points to 10<\/span>8<\/span>.1, and European ICI ticked <\/span>down<\/span> 1.<\/span>4<\/span> points to 9<\/span>5.3<\/span>. <\/span> <\/span>

The Investor Confidence <\/span>Index <\/span>was developed at State Street <\/span>Associates, State Street Global Markets\u2019<\/span> research <\/span><\/strong>and advisory services business, in partnership with FDO Partners.<\/strong> It <\/span>measures<\/span> investor confidence or risk <\/span>appetite quantitatively by analyzing the actual buying and selling patterns of institutional investo<\/span>rs. The index <\/span>assigns a precise meaning to changes in investor risk appetite: the greater the percentage allocation to equities, <\/span>the higher risk appetite or confidence. A reading of 100 is neutral; it is the level at which investors are neither <\/span>increasing <\/span>nor decreasing their long<\/span>–<\/span>term allocations to risky assets. The index differs from survey<\/span> –<\/span>based <\/span>measures in that it is based on the actual trades, as opposed to opinions, of institutional investors. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>\u201cInvestor sentiment remained near its 3<\/span>–<\/span>year high in Nov<\/span>ember, although the Global ICI has eased off the strong <\/span>levels recorded last month,\u201d commented Marvin Loh, <\/strong><\/span>g<\/span>lobal <\/span>m<\/span>acro <\/span>s<\/span><\/strong>trategist, State Street Global Markets.<\/strong> \u201cThe <\/span>overall positive tone in risk assets pushed global equity bourses to multi<\/span>–<\/span>year highs, led<\/span> by North America, with <\/span>U.S. equity investors looking past the start of Fed tapering, higher inflation readings and more aggressive rate <\/span>hike expectations. Investor\u2019s willingness to look through surging inflation will be key to maintaining the overall <\/span>inve<\/span>stor confidence that has emerged globally this year.\u201d<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n
